Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan, a new OST

December 2, 2016 in Audio, Corporate, Music, Slideshow by Rémi Laouti

Aurion : L'Héritage des Kori-OdanAurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is an Action-RPG which takes place in an African-Fantasy world. This first project of the Kiro’o Games (the first African studio based in Yaoundé, Cameroun), fit into the will of the creators to share inspiring adventures to the players, in a world where fantasy stands alongside African myths and legends never before seen in a video game.

Jean Yves Bassangna, co-creator of the Kiro’o Games studio, sound designer and composer of the Aurion original soundtrack, was obviously inspired by this culture to transpose it in the music. Thus, we can find in the music various African sounds and instruments. Some tracks are epic and others more intimate to characterize the numerous places the Aurion hero will traverse during his journey.

The original soundtrack to Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is available on Bandcamp and YouTube.

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan offers a vast world to explore and a strategic gameplay partly inspired by the “Tales Of” series. For Kiro’o Games, Aurion is the foundation stone of a new genre, the Kiro’o Tales, stories about African culture but also inspired by traditional fantasy.

Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan is already available on Steam.

A Xavier Collet track in Brice 3!

October 27, 2016 in Audio, Cinema, Music, Slideshow by Rémi Laouti

Logo Brice 3The movie Brice 3 has been showing in cinemas since October 19, and if you’re a fan of video games and Japanese anime, you’ll be struck by one particular scene. Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn’t yet seen the film and wants to enjoy the surprise! This scene pays affectionate tribute to the legendary manga Dragon Ball, and was set to music by Xavier Collet!

The movie in fact contains some Dantesque combat between two main characters in a Dragon Ball-type animated sequence. The music was composed exclusively for the scene by Xavier Collet and works perfectly with the image to the great thrill and delight of fans.

The music created by Xavier is a blend of ’80s hard rock largely reminiscent of the famous band Van Halen and Japanese sounds all with an extensive use of synthesizers. Not only is it a real homage to this anime, a cult for a whole generation, but Xavier has also seized the genre to share a musical style that is truly his own.

Listen to the Xavier Collet’s previous projects on our website G4F Records.

Endless Legend Tempest Logo

The Tempest expansion brings a host of new original content to Endless Legend, the game developed by Amplitude Studios and published by Sega. FlybyNo composed four new tracks for the new content and, like his previous works, the music in Tempest is a subtle blend of soothing passages, dreamlike sequences and exciting naval battles that will keep gamers enthralled.

The tracks were recorded at Studios Ferber in Paris. FlybyNo used the Scoring Orchestra to bring the music to life. A large ensemble of musicians and singers performed FlybyNo‘s compositions and brilliantly conveyed the character of the Morgawr, the new major faction in Tempest.

The music is available on Bandcamp, YouTube and all the other digital download platforms.

In addition to the new music and the new class of the Morgawr, Tempest contains an eagerly-awaited feature: the ability to engage in naval warfare. New control zones will also be available on the oceans with a variable climate system. Players will also find a new minor faction on the battlefield: it goes without saying that all this comes with lots of new quests and special items.

portrait_resizeComposer-arranger Samuel Safa joins our Talents team

Samuel Safa has vast experience composing music for film, video games, shows and musical comedy. A notable project was the short film by Mathilde Bayle “La Chambre du Nord” and the TV film “Soudains ses mains” by Emmanuel Gras. Samuel has also written for various documentaries, among which “A New Prehistory“, broadcast on Arte channel soon. His shows have been incredibly successful in France and overseas, and most recently he arranged and produced an album for Francis Lalanne: “Hommage à Léo Ferré”.

He’s been busy in the video games sector too; the most recent title to feature his music was “Kill the Bad Guy“, a thrilling puzzle game where you have to find ingenious ways of ridding the Earth of its worst criminals! The music is a perfect soundtrack to the game, skillfully mixing genres to convey the tension of the game universe while allowing the player to carefully consider his next move…

This “making-of” shows how Samuel Safa composed the music for “Kill the Bad Guy“:

Samuel’s next video game project will be 2Dark,  the new title from Fréderic Raynal (Alone in the Dark, Little Big Adventure!) and the team at Gloomywood. Samuel composed the game soundtrack, and we will keep you updated on the latest exciting news about the 2Dark OST.

May we take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to Samuel!
